Would You Want an Invitation to Jenna Bush's Wedding?

Would You Want an Invitation to Jenna Bush's Wedding?

The date's set for the first daughter's first nuptials: May 10. Are you checking your mailbox for your invite? I'd be honored to go — it sounds fun, very possibly in a Señor Frog's kind of way?

While you're mulling the decision over, check out all the fabulous designer gowns Jenna gets to choose between.

I would go! I don't understand why it's not at the White House though. You're the President's daughter - why not!? Her fiancee sounds like he's a bit of a 'climber' and he might be using her. Ugh. I hope all the rumours are false and that they have a happy life together.

I would ABSOLUTELY go. What an honor to be invited to a wedding for a First Child. Seriously. How could you pass it up?

Um, I kind of thought this question was asked in good fun since it's very unlikely anyone on this board actually knows Jenna Bush and will be attending the wedding. I think some people are really reading this way too literally if they are responding, "I don't know her, why would I go?" Pretend your new boyfriend is a friend of the groom's or something and needs a date to the wedding ok? There is a reason people say heinously mean things about her father, and though it's too bad that it means we automatically think mean things about the Bush twins, Jenna especially has not done very much to try to make herself seem credible. Compare her to Chelsea Clinton... That being said, I would love to be a fly on the wall, or a date to a wedding like that. It would be very interesting!

I think regardless of being the President's daughter her wedding should be about her and her future hubby - not about the countries need to be voyeurs. It should be her family and close friends but I bet she'll be asked to invite some big wigs as a favor to her dad. So long as they can "get down" and business doesn't ruin her wedding that might be okay. Otherwise Jenna should out her foot down and say no to her parents, if they ask.

I wouldn't go, because I don't know her and would be highly suspicious of the invite. lol

The dresses were fun to look at, for sure. But, that Jezebel post was hard to read without cringing. How elitest and condescending would you have to be to actually believe there's even a sizable portion of the country so simpleminded that a wedding (anybody's wedding!) would effectively distract them from much of anything, especially that little war thing!? :?

Not disappointed in you Citizen, I'm sure its hard to find stuff thats nice to her! I just feel bad for her, thats all!

It was all meant in good fun--I linked to Jezebel piece because it had pictures of the dresses Jenna gets to choose from...the lucky duck. But you're right, I could have more carefully considered the context of that info...

It's one thing to be harsh with the people who choose the public life, but it seems a little below the belt to pick on the kids who get dragged along with it all.

The Sr. Frogg comment didn't bother me as much, thats obv. a joke, but that article... - "the boozy bride" - the wedding is a "gross opportunistic way to distract people from the war" - "the white house could use all the class it could spin" Why can't this girl just have a happy day? Next time you're in DC be sure to steer clear of the WH or you could get caught up in the villagers with pitchforks and torches...

Yeah, what's up with the Senor Frog comment?

Geez I just read those articles in the links... even those were mean! Couldn't you find some that weren't as mean spirited Citizen?

Princess - I agree, I would totally want to have a wedding in the White House if I could! My husband actually proposed to me in front of the White House (funny side note, the SS guy said Congrats after I said yes and then radioed it to the other guards, so as we were walking by them, they all congratulated us... so funny!) But on the other hand, I'm sure she's had so much pain over people's heinously mean comments about her father that I could totally understand her wanting to associate her wedding day with happy times in Crawford instead of bad times at the White House. I honestly cannot imagine how hurtful it must be to hear what people say about him and have him be your Dad.

I don't know her, so I feel like it would be disrespectful for her and awkward for me.

Ok, so it's not at the White House. I still stand by the fact that I would go. :rotfl: By the way, why the hell wouldn't they have it at the White House? I would so have my wedding at the White House if my parent was the President. What is wrong with these people? lol

What a terrible picture! She is such a pretty girl, but here she looks like a monkey. Or her father. I agree with remedios, though. Silly poll! Can you imagine being seated at a table with cabinet members? Awkward!!!
