Like Cheshire, I treat almost always and dont expect it back in return. I just do it because I have the extra money. When I am strapped for cash, I just don't go out even if they offer to pay. If I cant afford my own, then I dont need to go out. If I loan someone money and they dont pay like they said they would, I dont ask for it... I simply just dont loan them money afterwards.

it makes you feel "crumb" to ask for your money back ($5 bucks, $10 buck, whatever under $40). sometimes ppl make it seem like you're a cheapo when you mention it. but hell, you might need that $5 bucks to buy lunch, or put $10 of ga back in your car. . . . i usually don't lend it out, unless it's a close friend where we buy each others lunch/dinner/coffee occasionally, otherwise ppl will take advantage. but don't let that be the other way around. they would be hounding you for their cash!

Never loan $$$ to a friend unless you accept that you might not get it back. I would never ask for my $5 back! I treat all the time and don't expect to be paid back. It's nice when I get treated back but it's never expected. Maybe it's an age thing. I'm in my 30's and not strapped for cash. As a teen or a struggling student $5 might mean a lot!

I just don't loan money, period. I either say no or I give it to them.
