A Backyard Star Wars Mandalorian Wedding
Boho Meets Star Wars? This Backyard Wedding Combined the 2, and We're Obsessed!
Radiance and Anthony, like many engaged couples in 2020, had grand wedding plans. But after a few months in lockdown due to COVID-19, the pair decided a big wedding wasn't in the cards, and that they were ready to begin their lives as husband and wife. The duo settled on a backyard wedding at a family friend's in Palm Beach, FL, and the theme, as coined by the bride, was tropical boho Mandalorian. "I definitely wanted something out of this world because our love story feels cosmic in a way," Radiance told POPSUGAR. "So Star Wars, specifically the Mandalorian Disney+ series, worked out nicely as a theme."
Married on June 7 in honor of the birthday of Radiance's favorite pop singer, Prince, the big day featured fun elements like a massive charcuterie board, a faux floral arch, Star Wars figurines, and more. "The pandemic allowed us to get creative in ways we normally wouldn't have. We just embraced the chaos and changes, and decided to have fun," Radiance said. And while the priest and families couldn't physically be there, the two improvised with a few characters from another galaxy. "Having Din Djarin, the titular Mandalorian himself and best father figure in the galaxy, walk me down the aisle in my dad's place was especially poignant for me. And, of course, The Child himself: Grogu!"
While there are so many unique benefits to having a backyard wedding, one bonus was the couple could dress more casually. Radiance dressed in bedazzled flip-flops with crystal earrings and a mythosaur necklace as a subtle nod to Star Wars. Anthony opted for a blue blazer, a maroon floral bow tie, a white shirt, and gray pants. "I think we both wanted a look that was simple, timeless, and breathable. June in South Florida can reach the humid high 90s, so comfort was important as well."
