Angelina Wears Machine Gun Charm Maddox Drew

Angelina Jolie's Gun Charm: Kid Friendly or Are You Kidding?

Angelina Jolie's played a gun-toting woman on screen and is a weapon-wearing mama off camera. For a recent Entertainment Weekly interview and photo shoot, the stunning soon-to-be mother of six wore a gun charm necklace that her eldest son, Maddox designed. She said:

''Mad, our 6-year-old, draws lots of war scenarios,'' she explains. ''He's all into war and guns. So for Mother's Day he drew a machine gun, and Brad had it made into a necklace, which is really sweet. It's really cute. I think it's really good!''

While there's nothing better than a homemade gift for mom, is jewelry in the likeness of a fully automatic firearm taking the notion too far?

her stylist put it on her. im sure she doesn't wear that around the kids- she has to uphold her bad-girl persona somehow. Found some AWESOME charms at http://www.designjewelry.com

there is no shame in guns my dad was a cop and we were raised with them i think i was a better shot at 9 then i am today the important thing is the both parents teach their kids that real guns are not for play (they kill) and how to practice gun safety to follow through with our gun safety training my dad use to let my little brother play with toy guns as long as he never pointed them at anyone parents and education are the key

Considering gun movies make the most money for Brad and Angie movies, I gues they would indulge their kids in gun play. I hope they at least teach them gun safety and responsibility at some point.

If her kid was drawing syringes full of heroin, should she have that made into a necklace too?

:oy: hypocritical is the word that springs to mind for some strange reason....

Angelina is the biggest hypocrite of our time. Doing the whole UN thing in combination with shooting movies (wanted) about killing people and promoting guns and war in her home is just one example.

Frankly, this equals keeping gun drawing of our own children on the fridge or any other place we keep them on display. Only Brad and Angie have munny so they turn drawings to gold LOL Humankind is just too obsessed with thinking that celebrities must be... perfect by everyone's rules and standards...

The main problem with it is since Angelina has one, all moms will want one. I don't find anything horrible about play guns, but this is a bit much.

I like Angelina Jolie ,always have as i think she is very unique with her candor and her rare beauty is a plus. The gun drawing made into jewalry from her 6 yr old son is what it is. My son played with swords, drew pics of swords but today as a young man swords are the last thing on his mind. Hes fine a son to be proud of. Parents teach their kids the right and wrong about weapons as i beleive Angelina and Brad have instilled in their sons mind so no worries.

I can't go back to this crazy post in PopSugar, so I'll comment here. I have a 6 year old who can at times be obsessed with guns and battles and the like. It scared me when he first started at 4 (picked up in nursery). The teachers didn't ignore it or laugh it off but they also didn't want to stifle the child's creativity by freaking out over the games they were playing. I have come to realize that boys are drawn to such things, but we are constantly talking about what is real and pretend. I tend to ignore some of the games and pictures and bring the focus on to something else. I have a hard time with the necklace and the encouragement here by Brad and Angie. Fine, they don't want to forbid it but I wouldn't further encourage it.

Honestly it is a big deal. He drew a gun for her on Mother's Day and Brad made it a necklace. There showing him that guns are okay and that mommy really likes it. When he's 14 and 24 he's gonna wanna play with real ones. Not that he's going to go out and shoot someone but what if he has kids and there's an accident. Promoting guns and your a U.N. ambassador is contradictory. I know that he's exposed to his country's history and where he came from and that's probably where it came from but I think she wants to be this totally hip parent at the expense of her boys.

I grew up with three brothers and two sisters. We pretended to be cowboys, war soldiers, James Bonds, cops and robbers, and even fought creatures from outer space. None of us grew up to be violent people. All children play make-believe. Does a police officer's child become violent just because his parent owes a gun? I wonder if this would be such a big deal if it wasn't about Angelina. Leave the woman alone. She seems to be a wonderful, loving mother. She helps spread peace and awareness around the world.

Guns don't kill people...PEOPLE kill people....with guns, yes, but also with knives, cars, poison, axes, etc.... Her son made it for her, there is nothing wrong with it.

My brother played guns all the time when he was a kid then he became a champion target shooter then a Marine now he works for a video game designer. He is my dad's other family but he is older than me and very nice to me and my mom always said he'd grow up bad and danegerous and he is very sweet and rich and she is nice too but should say she is sorry to him for all the bad words. He is fine and I have a nephew now too.

We weren't allowed to have toy-guns as kids. We didn't even have waterpistols. My brother has never played any war/crime/violence-videogames, neither have I or my sister. Some of my best friends are from Bosnia and we had many kids from there in elementary-school in mid-90's. Those classmates had actually seen war, how horrible it would have been for them if we would have actually played war on school-breaks? I just can't see the point making war or deadly weapons "cool" for kids. There are certainly many other things from which you can get excitement and adrenaline running.

boys will be boys. as long as you educate them about the dangers of guns, its a really cute idea!

I can understand parents wanting to shelter their children from thoughts of violence by not allowing them to play with toy guns or knives or any other weapon, after all its their prerogative. I also have no problem with parents letting thier kids have toy guns, knives, lightsabers, etc because they dont think it is unhealthy (i agree with them) There are parents out there that dont explain the difference between play and real and those people scare me. I had some little boys in my aftercare at the YMCA and every day the three of them would just go nuts and try to beat the living sh*t out of some other poor child (they were all kindergartners) after about two times of time out I asked them what they were doing, why they were doing it, and they said they were power rangers and thats what power rangers do...when the parents came and I explained the discipline I had to take they just laughed and said "kids will be kids" One of those kids, held up a pregnant woman at knife point and stole her car last year.

God made man, Sam Colt made em equal. It seems alot of people want to be their kids friend and not the parent. They even back their kids when the are bad. I have taught gun safety for many years. I have have a number of mothers come to class saying that they we deathy afraid of guns and after they finish the class said they were very comfortable being around them and how to make rules for a safe house. Respect for other people and education is the way to go not burying our heads in the sand. We have to realize that a small percentage of the population are perverts who pray on inocent people. I don't think I would break into Angelina's house. Learn how to defend youself and your family!
