From the looks of it, it seems this is a family thing, the whole snake stuff. It's probably very normal there. And those snakes aren't boas. They don't normally strangle their victims do they? And if they do, the video ended right there. The person videoing probably stopped to help.

i dunno--i wouldn't want my child to think any venomous snake might be a playmate even if this one is perfectly safe. no way in hell would i want my baby to even consider going *near* a venomous animal.

Shomonigushi you're kind of right I was thinking the same thing. If people from different cultures watched AFV with parents video taping their children crying and then laughing about it they might be disturbed. While the baby might have been in harms way (we don't know for sure if the fangs were removed) their were adults around to grab the snake if he tried to suffocate him. Like they say different strokes for different folks.

From what I have been led to understand by people who grew up in this culture, this is the equivalent of us letting our children play with a declawed cat. Just because you think of snakes in one way doesn't mean they do.

Defanged and devenomized, I don't care. That's extremely disturbing.

That was really disturbing. It actually turned my stomach. And Buffy, I noticed that it wrapped around the baby's neck at the end too.

I think this is very disturbing, and bordering on abuse. even if this snake is defanged, how is this little kid supposed to tell the difference.

That's so disturbing to watch but we have to remember that it's happening in a different country. It would be ethnocentric to say that it's bad parenting and irresponsible. It's kind of like those Funnest Home Videos when the kids are screaming or crying and the parents are taping it.

Definitely doesn't have fangs otherwise that baby would have died since the snake struck him about 3 times. I can't believe anyone would let there baby next to a snake or any dangerous animal for fun. WTH is wrong with people???

Wow! That's awful even if the fangs and venom have been removed...looks like at the end the snake wrapped around the baby's neck! Great parenting!

I've seen this video before. What amazes me is that someone was holding the camera and not picking up the kid! The snake is probably a family pet -- anyone in their right mind wouldn't let a poisonous snake play with their kids, right? (well, lets hope not!)
