Bristol Palin and Levin Johnston Getting Married

Is Marriage From Teen Pregnancy a Recipe For Divorce?

Bristol Palin to marry Levi Johnston? Sarah Palin's daughter's pregnancy garnered almost as much media attention as the former Alaskan governor's run for vice president. After a seemingly perfect (and perhaps staged engagement) and a tumultuous breakup, the young couple, now parents to 17-month-old Tripp are going to make their family official. Some people believe parents should stay together at all costs to benefit their children while others think putting off marriage makes more sense. What is your opinion?

Stop the Hating: Statistically, most teenage moms do not finish high school, and even fewer go to college and graduate school. There are, of course, exceptions, and it sounds like you know some of them. Teenagers are very often ill equipped to deal with the emotional and financial toll of newborns. Very often the father doesn't stick around. Babies are a lot of work, and teenagers usually are not very mature. I know the person I was at 16 and the person I am now, at 28, are very different.

Agree Starbucks in their situation probably a bad idea but I don't think it's always the case. But when the hell did they get back together? Weren't they slamming each other in the press a few weeks ago?

Not necessarily. It depends on the circumstances. In this case, though, they seem to only marry because they have a child. Bad idea! I feel bad for them!

Generally, yes. To marry someone solely because you have a child by them is a bad idea.
