If a family road trip is on your vacation bucket list, consider this family's budget-friendly DIY RV renovation the ultimate inspiration. When Christina from The DIY Mommy and her husband spotted a 1992 Vanguard 5th Wheel RV for sale on Kijiji for just $1,000, they jumped at the opportunity to transform it. By spending $1,000 to renovate the interiors, the couple were able to create the ultimate vacation home for their family of five.

How did they pull it off? They painted right over the RV's dated wallpaper with primer, then topped it with white paint to instantly brighten the space. They covered the old countertops with faux marble contact paper and used peel and stick smart tiles to create a backsplash effect in the kitchen. To modernize the shiny brass hardware throughout the camper, Christina spray-painted door knobs, cabinet hinges, hooks, and table legs with oil-rubbed bronze spray paint. She created the look of faux barn wood by using inexpensive wallpaper on some of the accent walls and updated the floors by laying faux vinyl planks right over the linoleum floors. She sewed a slipcover for the jackknife sofa and dinette cushions and replaced the dinette table with an Ikea butcher block desktop cut to size. Pretty genius, right?
