Kids love having some control over what they're eating. You just need to make sure you give them smart ingredients to choose from. Any of these ideas are great choices!
Ingredients
- Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon Bagel
2 tablespoons 1/3-less-fat cream cheese, softened
1 teaspoon chopped fresh dill
1/2 teaspoon grated lemon rind
1 (4-ounce) bagel, split and toasted
4 ounces cold-smoked salmon
- Peanut Butter, Honey, and Raisin Bagel
2 tablespoons creamy peanut butter
1 (4-ounce) bagel, split and toasted
2 teaspoons honey
1 tablespoon raisins
- Scrambled Egg and Cheese Bagel
2 (0.75-ounce) slices reduced-fat sharp cheddar cheese
1 (4-ounce) bagel, split and toasted
1 large egg
Dash of salt
Dash of freshly ground black pepper
1 teaspoon butter
- Cream Cheese, Tomato, Red Onion, and Avocado Bagel
2 tablespoons 1/3-less-fat cream cheese
1 (4-ounce) bagel, split and toasted
2 tomato slices
1 (1/8-inch-thick) red onion slice, halved
1/2 avocado, peeled and sliced
1/8 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
Directions
Cream Cheese and Smoked Salmon Bagel
Combine first 3 ingredients in a small bowl. Spread half of cream cheese mixture over cut side of each bagel half; top each half with 2 ounces salmon.
Peanut Butter, Honey, and Raisin Bagel
Spread 1 tablespoon peanut butter over cut side of each bagel half. Drizzle each half with 1 teaspoon honey, and top with 1/2 tablespoon raisins.
Scrambled Egg and Cheese Bagel
Place 1 cheese slice on cut side of each bagel half. Combine egg, salt, and pepper in a bowl, stirring with a whisk. Melt butter in a small nonstick skillet over medium heat. Add egg mixture; cook, without stirring, until mixture sets on bottom. Draw a spatula across bottom of pan to form curds. Continue cooking, stirring occasionally, until egg mixture is thickened but still moist. Immediately spoon half of egg over cheese on each bagel half.
Cream Cheese, Tomato, Red Onion, and Avocado Bagel
Spread 1 tablespoon cream cheese over cut side of each bagel half. Top each half with 1 tomato slice, half of onion slice, and half of avocado slices. Sprinkle evenly with pepper.
