Children Are Alarm Clocks

Do You Use an Alarm Clock?

As a mother to a 22-month-old, the last thing I need in my life is an alarm clock. Aside from occasional use for early airport trips, my daughter is up with the roosters and ready to crow.

If there were ever a day where I thought sleeping in may be a reality, I'd go with it. I'd leave the kitchen a mess, phones ringing and the world waiting while my child let me rest peacefully. Dream on you say? Well, I would if I could.

My uncle is an importer of goods and has to travel frequently. As he is on different time zones, it is necessary for him to be on time for appointments. Is there an alarm clock that is functional, effective and compact?

We definitely use it at our house. My son doesn't wake until 7:30ish on most days and we need to be up by 6 to get ready for work. Don't use it on weekends though unless we need to be somewhere early.

yes, jessie! This last weekend they were up way past their bed time (only because it was their last free one before school) and they were up too early. I just think the late bed time threw them off- I even had them restless throughout the night. I still haven't caught up from their schedule- I never will!

Well, of course during the summer when I want to sleep in a bit later, my kids are up early and I don't need an alarm clock. We need one now that school has started. They all of a sudden don't want to be up at the crack of dawn. Go figure

omygod, Jessie you're lucky ha ha ha! My daughter's up at the a$$crack of dawn. It's rare for her to sleep passed 8:30 - and that's late. It's usually 6-7.. sometimes 4 or 5AM. My daughter has been my alarm clock for the last 2 years and 4 months. It's exhausting, but oh well.

except for special occasions, my 10 month old is my alarm clock. she wakes up sometime between 7 and 8 am every day. on the *rare* occasions she sleeps past then (or she's sleeping over at grandma's), i get some bonus sleep. my husband still has his set on week days, but he snoozes until she wakes up anyway.

I have a great internal alarm. 5:30. Everyday. I don't love it all the time, like when we're out too late...but for the most part, it's not so bad. My husband and I get time to workout in the morning while she's sleeping.

Well since I only have one kid to get off to school (my daughter graduated from high school this year), I use an alarm clock to get both my son, husband and myself motivated in the morning. Especially since my son goes to junior high alittle earlier then he used to when he was in elementary school.

For as long I can remember I never used an alarm clock. Like fjaril said I just look at the clock and think of the time that I have to wake up and that's it. On the other hand, my son needs a live band in the room to wake up. He's quite a deep sleeper.

I need an alarm to get up in time to get the older kids to school during the week. They usually sleep through their own alarm.

For the most part the baby gets me up but I set an alarm just in case. I normally hear it go off while I'm giving him a bottle in the next room ;-)

I've not needed an alarm clock since I was a kid. I just look at the clock, think of when I need to get up by and I'm set. If my Little Dude sleeps past that time, I still get up when I need to :)

not a actual alarm clock...i use my cell phone. i found that i sleep better not having a actual clock in our room. and i tend not to check my cell in the middle of the night. so i just set the alarm on that and i've used that for the last 9 months and love it.

Yes, during the week. We need to be up by about ten to seven and the kids don't wake on their own until about 8.
