Crawling Styles for Babies On the Go

Which Crawl Style Did Your Wee One Use?

He's on all fours and he's on the loose! Mama better be ready when her youngster finds his wheels and starts crawling all over the house. The lil squirrels can get into every nook and cranny, slamming doors, eating crumbs and picking up pennies nobody ever paid attention to... until now. But not every crawl is the same. While the hands and knees motion is the most commonly assumed position, some tots choose to scoot across the floor on their tiny bums while others do the one-legged crab walk. My lil guy seems ready for the military with his commando crawl as he utilizes his elbows and drags his muscled legs on the ground.

What was your tot's crawling style?

When my son was little we lived in a split level home and there were so many stairs that instead of gating all of them I just taught him right away how to go down them feet first but he would start about 6-8 feet away and slide backwards towards the stairs but he would never watch where he was going so he would end up running into the wall and instead of just turning and aiming in the right direction he would go all the way back out and try again. Sometimes it would take him 15 minutes just to get aimmed down the stairs. It was totally cute.

haha my daughter crawled the WEIRDEST way. She would learn forward from a sitting position with one knee down and the other foot up like she was going to stand up, and then she would hoist up with the foot in the standing position, and drag the leg on the floor forward.. lol, rinse and repeat. She would gimp along like that for hours.. so funny.

That video is so cute. Mine went backwards first too, and she was always getting stuck under our coffee table! Too funny! Now she goes forward up on all fours, and super fast.

Mine went backwards first! He kept getting himself stuck under dining room chairs, because he couldn't see where he was going. It was adorable.
