After receiving an upsetting message from her daughter [3], Connie Sowards called her husband, Ben, and asked him to pick the distraught child up from school. She explained that 6-year-old Valerie had an "accident" in class and was in tears over the situation. This Utah dad jumped into action [4] to rescue his daughter and immediately came up with a plan to help ease her embarrassment.

"Honestly, I knew she was mortified, but I thought if I could make her laugh everything would be fine," Ben told the Huffington Post [5]. He came up with idea of showing up to get Valerie from kindergarten with wet pants Billy Madison style. When Ben walked into the principal's office to retrieve his daughter, he asked the little girl if he could borrow her backpack to hide something.

"She was totally exasperated. But, once she saw my pants, I got that look from her where I knew everything was OK. All dads know what look I'm talking about," Ben said. "And we just strolled out of the school like nothing was happening."

Ben's older daughter, Lucinda, saw what her amazing dad did for her sister when they returned home and posted photos of the pair on Twitter, where they quickly went viral. "I have memories of my dad working all night building a play set when I was little and waking me up in the morning to take me out and push me on the swings," she shared on the Love What Matters Facebook Page [6]. "Both of my parents are incredibly selfless, especially when it comes to the happiness of their family."

Thanks to her dad's quick thinking, Valerie is now able to laugh at what happened instead of potentially being embarrassed to return to school. "When you're a parent, you work on instinct," Ben added.
