FYI, Parents: There's an Elf on the Shelf Movie!

Dec 6 2018 - 11:00am

If you're an Elf on the Shelf [1] family, chances are your kids can't get enough of the antics of Santa's little helper. Whether you go all out and stage elaborate scenes with your elf [2] while your kids are sleeping or go the simpler route [3], because — let's be honest — who has time for that, there's no denying that it brings a lot more holiday magic into your home (and good behavior from your kids!). And while you may be an expert on the book, the numerous elf outfits you can buy, and the many, many things you can do with one [4], did you know that there's also an Elf on a Shelf movie?

The movie, The Elf on the Shelf: An Elf's Story [5] ($10), isn't new — it was actually released in 2011 — but it could be the perfect addition to your elf traditions this year! The 23-minute film is a follow-up to the popular book and tells the story of a boy who doubts the existence of Christmas magic and whether or not Santa Claus can really know who's naughty and who's nice. Chippy, a young scout elf, is then assigned by Santa to restore his belief in Christmas magic, and, well, the rest is history.

A Sweet Story

The film [7] ($10) has a very special lesson, which is that believing in Christmas magic and the true meaning of the holiday are so important.

A New Family Tradition

The movie [8] ($10) is a great way to introduce the Elf on the Shelf tradition when you decide to start it. Or it's a great way to add to the tradition if you already partake.
