Parents on Facebook Will Love the Company's Latest Feature

Facebook may not allow children to use the social media site until they're 13 years old, but starting this week, they can have an official presence on the site thanks to a new tagging feature. Facebook Scrapbook allows parents to tag their children (and pets!) in their photos, even though kids don't have Facebook accounts.

Parents can thank Facebook product manager Dan Barak for the new feature. After having his first baby nine months ago, he realized that his photos of baby Rom spread over a number of photo albums in his account. Because he couldn't tag Rom, he found himself tagging his wife and quickly learned he wasn't alone. He commissioned a survey and learned that 65 percent of parents on Facebook tag their partner when sharing photos of their kids.

Enter Scrapbook. To use it, you'll need to add your child to your family. Simply click on the new Scrapbook option under the Family and Relationships section of your profile and add your child or pet's name. Assign a relationship (daughter, son, child, etc.) and add a birthday (this is optional). Then you can start tagging your offspring for an easy way to search — or scrapbook — their growth over the years! Get ready — we're predicting an onslaught of baby pics in your feed now that this exists!
