When Marley Parker, a first grader at Latta Elementary School in Oklahoma, opened up her textbook, she made quite an exciting discovery. Inside the front cover, in the "This Book Is the Property of" section, she saw a familiar name listed. Turns out, in 1982, that very book was issued to a young Blake Shelton.

"Marley is excited that her 'new' reader belonged to Blake," her mom, Shelly Bryan Parker, wrote in a Facebook post after discovering the country singer and Voice judge — who also grew up in Ada, Oklahoma, and attended the same public school — apparently used the very same copy of Look Away: Keys to Reading.

Shelly, however, wasn't so pleased.

"I am EMBARRASSED!!!! I'm 40 and these people are my age!!" she wrote.

To her, the fact that her daughter was still using a tattered book that was first published more than 30 years ago was a glaring example of the problems schools in Oklahoma are facing due to a lack of educational resources, and another powerful reason as to why nearly 40,000 Oklahoma teachers have been a part of a week-long strike [4] for better wages and more classroom funding.

"Thank you to every teacher, parent, support staffer, etc. for fighting for my kid's education. Don't give up until education is fully funded!"

For the record, she's not mad at Blake: she jokingly added the hashtag "#westillloveblake" to her Facebook post, which has been shared nearly 8,000 times already.
