We see our share of kids' clothes every day, so it takes a lot for a line to really catch our attention. Proving that sometimes less is more, The Green Egg did just that. The Vermont-based line of sweet, appliquéd tees, onesies, and tote bags has a distinct homespun look. But looking at the apparel only tells part of the story.
The felt appliqués that define each Green Egg product are made from Eco-fi, a 100 percent postconsumer plastic product. For every pound of Eco-fi felt that is produced, 10 plastic bottles are saved from a landfill. In addition to embracing eco-friendly practices, Green Egg has a charitable angle, as well. The brand is a partner of Haiti Projects Inc., a fair-trade, nonprofit sewing and knitting cooperative with the mission of empowering women in rural Haiti to support themselves and become self-sufficient.
Tracey Davidow, the founder of Green Egg, ships many of her tees and onesies to Haiti Projects, where its members hand-stitch the final details onto each piece. For each of those shirts that are stitched here in the US, Green Egg donates $1 to Haiti Projects. Check out 10 of our favorite tees from Green Egg's adorable line, and feel good picking up one or two for your little one, knowing that you're supporting the environment and a community in need.
