Dear Breastfeeding Moms, Is It Really That Hard to Cover Up?

Have You Hired a New Year's Eve Babysitter Yet?

Have You Hired a New Year's Eve Babysitter Yet?

One holiday down, one to go! Pre-baby, New Year's Eve meant a new outfit, a long night of parties and lounging the next day. Since my kids were born, the festivities have tamed down quite a bit. We will be ringing in 2009 at home with our lil ones, but many moms have trouble finding a caretaker for their children.

Have you booked a babysitter yet?

TMommy, we are also hosting a NYE party - we have included families with kids our son's age (4) and have are having a huge sleepover, so that no one has to be out on the roads that night. We're going to have an early NYE countdown so that the kids can participate in the fun before they go down. I can't wait - we should have loads of fun! Hope your party is great, too! :-)

tmommy, there is NOTHING wrong with hosting a NY party while having a 4-month-old! life doesn't have to end when you have a baby. but i'm with everyone else in that i don't like the thought of being on the road w/ a bunch of people who've been drinking. we're having 3 couples up to our ranch where they can have as much fun as they want to and not have to get in a car and drive anywhere. we're having a fantastic dinner after the kids go down.

No.......We're staying home. My kids come first and since becoming a mother my days of going out to parties and doing a little drinking on New Year's Eve are happily over.We are hosting a small dinner party with some friends and that's more than enough fun for us.

Call me insane, but I'm not a huge fan of leaving my child at home while I'm on the road on the biggest drinking night of the year. I much prefer to stay home with DH, watch a movie with some wine (non-alcoholic this year) and ringing in the new year alone together by reflecting over the past year and what (we hope) is to come in the next. It's our little sappy tradition and I love it way more than I ever did partying.

We decided not to go out this year. We normally invite people over but we hosted so many holiday parties that we are partied out. The baby will go to sleep at 7pm and the hubby and I will probably game.

TMommy, I don't see any problem with what you are doing. As long as you are being responsible then if you want to have a party then you should have one! I don't have any New Year's Eve plans. I'm childless and 21. I'm lame Schnappycat ;) Of course I've never liked partying so... lol

I stay home for New Years . It's safe and I don't have to worry about how to get home. TMommy I think it is great that you are still having a party. babies learn to adapt to their surrounding. So if she learns to sleep through anything it is better for your in the long run.

We are still going to throw our annual New Years Party even with our 4 month old! Its is little crazy, I admit, but she is a great sleeper and we are going to just put her in our room, the furthest away from the noise. She goes to be at 7:00 and the party starts at 9:00. We plan on staying sober this year and just being fantastic hosts and throwing our usual fantastic party. I've gone back and forth on whether or not this makes us bad parents... :-)And I'm sure there are varying opinions on this.

This is our last baby free new year's (i'm due early june) but I already know we'll be in on New Year's next year. I live in a college area, and finding a babysitting when the schools are on break is near impossible. Not to mention nobody wants to babysit on New Year's...So we'll party extra hard this year (or at least until the exhaustion hits me!!)

We're not going out. We're actually "splitting up" for New Year's. My husband wants to go to his brother's for a party, so he's taking the boys and I'm staying home with the baby. I have no desire whatsoever to be out on New Year's.

We don't usually do much, so I didn't even consider looking. We were lucky to find someone for a recent holiday party, so I didn't want to press my luck. Plus, I had such a crappy Christmas (our entire family got sick while we were visiting, my grandpa is dying, on and on), that I just need to rest. I'm barely functioning and still not feeling well so I think I'll watch a DVD that night and go to bed early. Lame.
