I have not seen many of the listed fast food restaurants posted on this article. I do know that a common fast food place that is healthy subway. I always get the tuna on multigrain with all the veggies; spinach, peppers, lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, onions and olives. Then I have them sprinkle a little olive oil vinegar. Fast food has always been hard to eat at because I don't eat meat, only fish and tofu. I have had some veggie sandwiches at Starbucks that were good, and pollo tropical has some good vegetarian dishes of rice beans and tomatoes or cucumber salad. Sushi is another healthy choice as it is not processed. My kids love California rolls and veggie rolls.

Another great option is the grocery store. These fast food places are not especially economical, they are not located across the entire US, and even if you do live in a state that has them, these franchises don't have the coverage of places like McDonald's, Burger King, Taco Bell or grocery stores. We can easily put together a quick, healthy and inexpensive meal from the bakery, deli and produce section at the supermarket. Stuff I wouldn't normally buy because it's too expensive (like precut fruit trays, small packages of washed lettuce, precooked chicken, bottled water) I will pick up when the alternative is going to a restaurant. A prepared fruit or veggie tray, a bakery fresh baguette, some nice cheese or hummus from the deli counter, a bunch of bananas, a bag of baby carrots, etc. Sometimes we'll pick up a rotisserie chicken, a bag of washed lettuce and some flat bread and assemble chicken wraps or pockets. A lot of grocery stores have a seating area in the deli or we just go to a nearby park and eat at a picnic table. We can feed a family of six for way less than it would cost us all to eat at Baja Fresh or Cosi! If the store is very busy I will stand in the line for the cash while my husband collects the stuff. If the store is not so busy we split up. If we need the kids to eat in the car I will I stay in the van with them while my husband runs into the store. I usually travel with a stack of large plastic cups. For small things that need to be shared out like cut fruit or baby carrots I just fill one cup for each kid and pass them around.
