"Another decision that can be the most important is the rug. Do you want an expressive rug, or do you just want a neutral beige pile? I wouldn’t really advise seagrass, or something like that, for a baby’s room because you can’t clean it and it’s hard. But that opens (you) up, to doing a wool rug, and most people prefer wall-to-wall in a kids room because it's cozier. Then what are you going to do with that rug? I put a hot tartan rug in (my daughter) Kate’s room and it's terrific. It's almost the only thing we did. You had to stop there because it was so strong. It was big magnified red and dark green plaid."
