Back of Is It Fair to Give Back a Family's Best Friends? It looks like Jon and Kate Plus 8 is minus two . . . dogs. Our girl Pet has pictures of Jon's last moments with the pups before they were shipped back to their breeder. The tensome adopted the German Shepherds, Shooka and Nala, as an early Christmas present for the kids late last year. But, in light of Jon and Kate's impending divorce, it's been reported that single parenthood and caring for a couple of dogs is too much for the Gosselins. While the twins and sextuplets are obviously affected by their mom and dad's very public breakup, is it fair to also send their pets away? LadyAngel89 7 years I am glad they sent the dogs back to their breeder. Regardless of the pretenses of why they got the dogs they understood that they can not handle them and did what was best for the dogs. Sent them to where they can be lovingly cared for and re-adopted by those that are capable of caring for them the way they deserve. Those dogs would not have deserved having to stay "for the kids" if the adults knew they could not take care of them all. Nadia24gv 7 years This is so mean. I can't believe they would do that to the children. Did they think anything in their lives was going to be easy? Cowards. Chrstne 7 years When you get a pet, usually they become like a child to you -- a part of the family. While they never should have gotten the dogs, they deserve to be in a place where the will be loved and cared for, not in a place where it just made good TV to have them around. Happsmjc 7 years I already could NOT stand Jon OR Kate--they both disgust, one is no worse than the other, and this has just pushed me over the edge! UGHHH! Akpril 7 years I think it's funny that the marraige is disposable, but heaven forbid their commitment to their dogs be otherwise. But it does suck for the kids and they didn't think through the responsibility of having dogs, but better that they go back to someone who can care for them than to stay in a bitter and tense home full of young children. ThePerfectScore 7 years Those dogs were just props for the show, they never really loved them... talking about the parents... the kids probably cared about them. snarkypants 7 years they should never have gotten the dogs in the first place! CaterpillarGirl 7 years I dont like it when people give back pets because of whatever, BUT in this case these dogs are getting saved from a life of possum hair and Ed Hardy runningesq 7 years A pet isn't an accessory - it's a living, breathing life time commitment. The family didn't do their research before deciding on on a breed.... this whole thing makes me SO ANGRY. I am glad they are going back to the breeder, though, where they will be cared for properly. If you have eight young children, two dogs probably aren't the best addition to your family. Idiots psterling 7 years I hate it when people don't think things though before making commitments like pets. If their marriage was in trouble they probably shouldn't have gotten dogs to begin with. Jessie-M 7 years As much as I hate to see pets being returned to their breeder, I feel it is better for the dogs to be returned to a place where they will be guaranteed adequate attention/be able to find a new home. It is not fair to the dogs to keep them if the Gosselins are not able to provide them with enough time and attention. As hard as it is to see these beloved family members leave, it should serve as a valuable lesson to Jon, Kate, as well as all of their children regarding the serious commitment of time, energy, and care it takes to own a dog-let alone two large ones.
