Jon and Kate Plus 8: Tonight the Fifth Season Debuts!

We fell in love with our favorite TLC family, The Gosselins, more than four seasons ago when their first specials aired. Watching the young couple juggle raising two sets of multiples — twins and sextuplets — and their marriage made many of us viewers feel we too could deal with life's surprises. Being in the public eye has brought much fame to the big brood, particularly the parents, and tonight as the fifth season of their reality show premieres, they are dealing with much bigger issues than diapering babies and feeding so many darling faces. We'll watch the new episodes of Jon and Kate Plus 8 wishing the best for all involved, particularly the children — Cara, Mady, Alexis, Hannah, Leah, Aaden, Collin and Joel.

That was the most painful episode of JK+8 EVER. It was uncomfortable and depressing. I felt bad for everyone...especially the babies. Kate was just overbearing in some parts of the episode...yet there were some moments I just wanted to breakdown with her and give her a hug. I think Jon made many poor decisions, but if I were in his shoes, I think I would have checked out a long time ago too. She really beat the sh*t out of him over the years and I think he chose the wrong path out of the marriage.

Hope things work out for the family, for the kids' sakes. If they really are as committed to their kids as they say they are, they need to fix whatever is going on with themselves individually and as a couple. I think it would be hypocritical if you going to play the victim and claim nothing is wrong on your end, because obviously, things are not broken just on one end.

I think I am done with the show for good. This was the first time I watched Jon and Kate plus 8 and wanted to cry my eyes out. Those kids don't deserve this. No one at the age of 5 needs to know what a paparazzi is. It was quite clear that Jon has checked out for good. I don't like Kate and I felt that she played the victim way too much in this episode. She treats her husband like crap and he has finally had enough. I don't know how TLC can see the problems that are occurring in their marriage and still choose to stick cameras in their face. This was just a really hard episode to watch.

I agree with laura. I have always loved this show but it is definitely awkward now. Jon and Kate are so bitter toward each other now. However, the moments with the kids and the party were so adorable.

The premiere is almost over. I don't think I'll watch any more of the episodes because it's all about being a reality star, and, it's awkward as all hell now.

I wish the best for the children. It can't be easy raising 8 children, with 6 all the same age, but when you open your lives up for television, and all the benefits, there will also be scrutiny and negatives. It will be interesting to see what happens tonight, but regardless of the cameras, this marriage had issues imo. I'm glad its being aired, I don't want them to pretend all is well when it is not.

I do not support the fact they continue to allow shooting new footage of their family when it is clear they are not the picture perfect happy couple they are pretending to be. Of course I will be watching but only for the kids. It saddens me because I have watched the sextuplets basically grow up on camera and they don't deserve all the scrutiny they are receiving from the media. I truly hope that after this 5th season Jon and Kate will really consider stopping filming for good.

I love this family (after watching more 'old' eps from the beginning, thanks TLC for reruns LOL), the children are super cute (oh gods, they remind me of my own son--mine is the exact combination of Alexis and Collins). But as much as I 'love' them, I can't watch the parents's marriage possibly deteriorating on tv, it's painful to see the preview. I mean, it's just sad that it's in a form of 'entertainment.' SO I'd probably stick to reruns :p
