Kate Gosselin Talks Marriage and Motherhood on Rachael Ray

Perhaps what is most refreshing (or infuriating) to fellow moms is that Kate Gosselin makes no apology for her personality. Only a brave, confident and honest woman would allow for the cameras to roll through the good and the bad — the realities of family life. And, maybe that's why so many mamas are drawn to the TLC show, Jon and Kate Plus 8. On Wednesday, Kate taped an episode of The Rachael Ray Show, which will air next Tuesday and talked openly about her current situation. Here are the highlights of Kate's interview:
On the tabloid reports:
"It's one of those things that we're just handling privately. We're just taking it one step at a time and I'm trying to walk through it."
On if she saw it coming:
"Certainly none of this could have been predicted. Now going into our fifth season, we have stepped back and realized that it is part of this process, and I always say there's really never any going back. We just need to go forward. That is my new saying -- just keep on marching through this. Just doing what we need to."
On her focus:
"I know that I’m continuing on as I am the best mom I know how to be and that's really where my focus is. I really try not to let any of that stuff that comes with it get to me."
On the way she is portrayed on the show:
"Just to put it out there, I am who I am. I do not care how you see me. Call me crazy, but it's out there because I am not perfect and I will never boast that I'm perfect. Everyone makes mistakes."

she really needs a new hairdo; one that she actually knows how to style and is suited for her head shape. I'm sure that haircut as she wears it is a bastardization of what the stylist intended as I saw a woman with a well executed version of that uneven/angled in the face/ short in the back cut. It's too choppy, she should just go pixie then the spikes in the back of her won't look so strange.

shannon, i have seen mady grow up-- and also hundreds of other children. i am an elementary teacher, and i can tell you that mady's behavior is not in any way different than many other kids that i have known and loved as a teacher.

stella, how can you say that the SHOW is affecting mady negatively? how do you know that? i've watched the show from day 1 and mady has always been the way she is, to a degree. why is the show at fault?

Agreed Stella!! Not to mention I have no respect for people who post anonymously, so cowardly! And the friend I'm speaking of knew Kate personally, they attended mommy and me classes together for multiples. So it wasn't a friend of a friend of a friend type thing. My point was she was expecting hand outs even before she had the sextuplets.

Well, not apologizing for being "mean" is not something I quite agree with. I have close family friends who lived near her before they moved to another part of PA. They said she was rude, abrasive, and always expecting handouts--and this was BEFORE the sextuplets (when she just had the twins). That is not how one should act in day to day life. I think at a certain point in our lives we have to be accountable for how we treat others, and Kate shows a lack of respect not only for her husband and family, but apparently for everyone around her. Maybe that is why they seem to have no family and friends anymore (where has Beth gone, and her brother and sister-in-law?). And chocking it up to "this is who I am" is a cop-out. At some point you need to learn how to treat others.

I think there is a point where the "I'm not aplogizing for who I am" attitude becomes an excuse for being lazy and not making yourself better.
