Lady Gaga Says She's Terrified of Babies

Lady Gaga Thinks Giving Birth Changes You Creatively: Do You?

She may want your bad romance, but she doesn't want your baby just yet. In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Lady Gaga, 24, shares that she's not quite ready for motherhood. In fact, she's afraid of the experience and how it might change her.

"I'm terrified of babies. I think, creatively, as a woman, you change once you give birth. I'm totally not ready for that."

There's no doubt motherhood evolves the woman you were before children in many different ways. Do you believe it changed you — or has the power to change you — creatively?

Yes, having a baby DID change me creatively. I now have even deeper, more thorough experiences on which to draw, and that adds depth to my creative fire.

Every mother I know has said that her whole life changed when she had her baby. So yes, I do think Gaga is right. It doesn't just change you creatively, it changes everything.

Perhaps Gaga's afraid that a baby will change her into the kind of woman who knows to wear more than a bra and panties to a baseball game. Cause, you know. Public nudity is a true expression of art.

Having kids made me look at life differently. My creativity has been affected because I don't have time to sketch and paint on a daily basis, go to art openings all the time, or attend lots of book and poetry readings like I used to...but the trade off is worth it. Motherhood has also made me creative in new areas.

I don't know, so much of Lady Gaga's fame comes from her sexually explicit and controversial videos. I could see her being afraid that she wouldn't be comfortable with her current stage persona after having kids.

Becoming a mom changed me in a thousand different ways. It changed my perspective on almost everything. So I would have to say it would most definitely change someone's creativity. Although, it did not change me in any negative way. I think it's made me more creative and more sincere.

I've changed creatively since having my daughter three years ago. I've had to work my creativity so much harder! When she was a baby, I had to figure out how to stop mealtime messes (washcloths work better than bibs) and keep her entertained while getting ready for work (kitchen utensils make GREAT toys and are special because they only come out during "Mom gets ready for work time."). As she got older, I had to figure out how to entertain her and how to teach her. By the time she was two, I was making up bedtime stories for her on the fly. Now that she's three, we're playing pretend and drawing and building with blocks, and I'm having to use my creativity so much more than I ever did before.

She's just 24, she's got a huge career, I think it's a sensible take on things. People are too ready to ascribe "craziness" to her quotes merely because she is a wacky dresser. IMO, she seems to have a good head on her shoulders.

I'm not in any way creative so I wouldn't worry about this.
