Late Pregnancy Stages

Why Didn't Anybody Tell Me: Baby-to-Be's Head

I coughed and almost peed my pants. It's time for my baby to make its debut. Someone once told me that at the end of pregnancy, there's so much pressure that it feels like your crotch is being dragged across sandpaper. I've reached that stage. There's something so awkward about walking around with your child's head between your legs. I remember having this sensation while expecting my son. He'd stretch and I'd think I was about to deliver. When he measured just shy of 23 inches at birth, I knew I hadn't imagined it. The doctor told me I "dropped" a few weeks ago, but as of this week the baby descended even more, which makes it uncomfortable to sit at certain angles. Some mothers compare this situation to having a softball wedged in their body; how did you describe it?

This was one of the few things that bothered me during my first pregnancy. She was a long large baby, and for the last month she was very much riding low. I thought i was going to pop her out every time I peed. It's extra hard for me becuase of how you hvae to sit differnetly, becuase i have a tailbone injury that prevents me from putting too much pressure on it for too long. It was a constant shifting to avoid agony. i peed myself EVERY single time i sneezed, did the exercises and was fine.. and then it started right back up at about 8 weeks pregnant this time.

I never really had that feeling with my little one. My problem was horrible pain in my labia, especially after standing or walking. Oh, you'll wet yourself for probably a couple of weeks after you deliver, too (until your muscles tighten back up). Keep those pads handy and do your kegals!

For some reason my bladder problems when sneezing got better during this pregnancy. Right now his head feels like it's a bowling ball down there, not a softball. There's also the occasional pelvic pain that feels like a mule kicked me there.

I'm at 33 1/2 weeks and still waiting for the baby to drop. Can anyone tell me if it feels more comfortable than having your kid head-butt up into your ribs? Because THAT has been the most uncomfortable part of pregnancy for me so far.

I'm due this coming Friday and absolutely having the same feeling. It's not really painful, just insane pressure.

I carried low the entire pregnancy, so never really "dropped" very much at the end. But my son spent the last month or two punching/headbutting my cervix. It was horrible! Ouch!
