Lil Tip: When Kids Get Sick in the Car

Once when my aunt was queasy in the car and they couldn't pull over, my grandmother passed her hat back for the child to throw up in.

While I've never tried that trick, in a pinch I've caught vomit in my hands, my skirt, a blanket, a box, and a shopping bag.

Unless your tot gets carsick, you probably won't have too many of these situations.

To see what happened to me recently,

But after the episode we had yesterday morning, when I sprung from the car and made an emergency dash into Starbucks to ask for a handle bag and some napkins (thanks to the barista who gave me an entire roll of paper towels) for my daughter who had just fallen ill, I am keeping one of these in our vehicle.

The nylon TrashStash Car Litter Bag ($13) attaches to the back of the seat or stands alone. Normally used for trash, the waterproof three gallon bag could also come to the rescue when a wee one isn't feeling well.

Add this to the list of reasons not to have kids... I suppose when my fiance and I are ready, though, this list will pale in comparison to the pros... hopefully...

I still get car sick on long rides, I have found that if I sit in the middle of the backseat and look foward I don't get sick.

My brother once threw up in an umbrella when we were on the highway and mom couldn't get to an exit fast enough. It actually worked surprisingly well.

My daughter gets sick on extended car rides too - I have found a solution - Queasy Pops. It is an all natural lollipop that you can use to ease nausea. She takes it a few minutes before we get in the car and fingers crossed we have not had an incident in a few weeks.

My daughter get's car sick all the time so I purchase these things at Walmart I think they're calle Mom helpers or something, anyway they have plastic bags, and Wipes compacted into small containers which can cling to the back of the driver seat!!! They are awesome and I HIGHLY recommend them...they're in the car section!

Once I had to use a Pringles tube that had been left in the car, it worked out really well, lol. My oldest gets car sick but as long as she's looking up and around, she's ok.

oh man-PRSugar you have my sympathy. I usually have a diaper duck bag roller with me--I think that would work.

OH, I need one of these - my son gets car sick whenever we are in the car for more than 20 minutes. I've caught it on my hands, in blankets and in my coat! I can't tell you how many times we've had to remove the car seat cover and have him sit on the styrofoam on the ride home!
