This 75-Year Old Man Naps With Cats at an Animal Shelter Everyday, and Can We Have His Life?

Sep 25 2018 - 7:35am

Terry Lauerman, a 75-year-old man from Wisconsin, has an afternoon schedule that cat ladies will envy [1]: he goes to Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary [2] in Green Bay to nap with some of its furry residents [3] every single day. And once a handful of photos were shared on Facebook [4], the internet collectively melted from the cuteness.

Elizabeth Feldhausen, the founder of Safe Haven Pet Sanctuary, said that Terry walked in one day six months ago with a cat brush, and the rest was history. "He just walked in and started brushing [5]," Elizabeth told The Huffington Post. "So eventually we told him he was an official volunteer and had him fill out our volunteer form."

"[He sleeps for] about an hour, then he'll wake up and switch cats."

No one at the sanctuary is complaining about Terry's method. After all, the disabled kitties the organization saves from euthanasia can use all the love they can get. "[He sleeps for] about an hour, then he'll wake up and switch cats," explained Elizabeth. "He said, [the brushing is] as great of an experience for him, as it is for them."

According to the original Facebook post, Terry's really gotten to know his gaggle of new buddies. "[He] can tell you about all of their likes and dislikes. He also accidentally falls asleep most days," said the post. "We don't mind. Cats need this! Terry is a wonderful volunteer."

Read through to get a glimpse of some of Terry's snooze sessions. God knows we could all use one right now!

Aw! That little gray baby just loves Terry.

THIS IS BLISS.

Seriously, name anything cuter. We'll wait.
