A real Halloween horror story

There are parents who DIY beautiful and intricate Halloween costumes [2] for their children, those who preorder an ensemble on Etsy [3] months ahead of October, and then there are the rest of us — the last-minute, sh*t-when-is-that-package-arriving type of parents who can be found sweating and stressing in the hours leading up to Oct. 31. Kim-Marie Evans of Luxury Travel Mom [4] certainly falls into that latter category and filmed herself telling her hilarious "real Halloween horror story" [5] while pushing her cart down the aisles of Party City at 7 a.m. on Halloween morning.

When her youngest child — who she says is likely dressing up for the last time this year — asked to be Thing 1 and Thing 2 with his best friend, she pulled out all the stops, ordering him everything he needed to make this costume amazing and splurging on overnight shipping to get it to their house on time. But then her nightmare began when she woke up at 6 a.m. on Halloween morning because she suddenly couldn't remember seeing a shipping confirmation for the items. Why? Because they were all still sitting in her online cart, right where she left them.

"Watcha gonna do now?" Evans asks the camera. "Turns out Party City opens at 7 a.m. so you tell the kids, 'You know what, feed yourself breakfast,' because this is a Halloween freaking emergency. And you know that if you don't get there at 7 a.m., some other mom who also f*cked up on Halloween is going to get the costume. And you find the last Thing 1 and Thing 2 in existence, because not today, 2017."

Life really is all about the little victories. Well done, mama.
