Nanny Wardrobe

Mommy Dearest: Naughty Nanny Wardrobe

Mommy Dearest,

I have a delicate situation that I'm not sure how to approach. Our nanny, whom we love, occasionally wears questionable clothing to the house. She is very professional about everything else, but her wardrobe has left me speechless lately. Though I have nothing against thong underwear, I don't care to see them hanging out of her pants. Also on display are her large breasts, which my son has taken to bouncing. You would think she could take a hint from a three-year-old! What concerns me most is her choice in footwear. She has been sporting heels! Not only do I worry about her chasing my son around on the playground in a pair of party shoes, I am concerned about her safety. I don't want to tell her how to dress, but I do think I should say something. Any tips on how to address her?

Seeking Scantily Clad Advice,

The easiest way to entertain the conversation might be to address the shoes first as they are a danger to her and potentially your son. I would ask her to bring some sneakers or other practical shoes with her to wear when she is out running errands or playing with your child. As far as the revealing clothing goes, you have to decide if it's worth addressing. Personally I wouldn't worry too much about it. Youngsters are going to be exposed to all sorts of wardrobes. If you get a glimpse of the bra or undies, you could hint to her that her undergarments are hanging out and she might decide to clean it up on her own volition.

WTF HoneycombHideout?!?!?!?! Freaking RELAX!!!!! Guess what? Just because a woman occasionally wears a lower top or her underwear shows DOES NOT mean she is after anyone's husband!!!!! Sometimes (as a woman with big breasts) I buy and wear a shirt and don't even notice that it is low until later when it's too late. And sometimes underwear just hangs out. I think it would be perfectly reasonable for her to be taken aside and let known that these things make the employer uncomfortable but I seriously doubt she is after anyone's husband....I don't know how anyone could make it through the day being that ridiculously paranoid of others. I pity that woman's (the commenter's) poor husband and children...I know I would hate to live with that level of delusion...

If she's your employee then you have the right to set rules when it comes to her attire. And being that she's working with children, then she should understand your feelings. I would not want my children looking at their nanny's underclothing or her breast hanging out in their face when she leans over to help them.

wtf? i would just do what babysugar said and mention that you can see her undies, etc. if that still doesn't work, then take lickety's advice and take her out shopping for a few appropriate items.

You are the employer you set the rules. I personally would not like to have a woman running around with my kids, or around my house with my husband, with her goods constantly hanging out. I would pull her aside and just tell her she looks great and you love her confidence, but could she tone it down while working...I dont think that is a problem at all. If you arent that type of person to speak out to her, then write a note. or an email. good luck

Yeah, WHOA is right! For many families a nanny is more cost efficient than daycare (it was for us and we are very much middle class). I think that it would be a good idea to address the shoes first and go from there. As her employer you are within your rights to tell her how to dress.

Listen Sugar .... Get her out of there NOW! Simple because the child/children best interest are not at heart. Its obvious that she is dressing for your Husband or any other adult MALE that's in that household. Its obvious that you and your family are well off, being that you are able to have a Nanny. The average middle class family takes their child/ children to a day care. I don't know what your financial status is. Its not your fault at all. Everyone knows what they are doing when they do it. Be very careful honey, and protect your family. Her main priority is the kid / kids, not auditions for a modeling agency and/or try outs for some kind of contest (you know what I mean) or to wear party shoes. I mean come on, party shoes on the play ground? Not only does it look ridiculous, but as you said its a hazard. So now what???? Is she gonna sue your family for something because she gets hurt (because of her own ulterior motives) I'm positive her job descriptions dont say ...... show your pannies ...... wear sexy high heels ..... Oh dont forget its a must to bend over in front of my husband and/or any man around, while watching the kids! Honey bunny your guardian angel is speaking to you, that's why you have concerns. It sounds like she is in the fashion and clearly she knows wearing those underwear with those paints are a no, no, BUT she also knows its magnetizing to any man. She has a motive and its not good. If she does not have enough manners, self respect for herself, mainly for YOU AS THE MOTHER OF THAT CHILD/ CHILDREN,or your household GET HER OUT. Its not your place to tell her how to dress, its your place to protect your household. And as a Nanny, trust me, SHE KNOWS WHAT SHE IS SUPPOSE TO DO, GET HER OUT NOW! Fool me once, shame on you, Fool me twice SHAME ON YOU. Your the women of that house. She is a lying, manipulative skunk. GET HER OUT NOW Honey Bunny. May God have is eye on you and your household. Take care of yourself. Maybe its not your Husband she is after, but maybe someone in the company he keeps. But clearly HER FIRST PRIORTY should be the baby/babies, not what man she is going to hook, line and sink. PRIORTIES are in order here. There is a baby at stack. Either or she cannot properly perform her daily functions in party shoes. Watch the movie Orphan, its a twist to it that you wont forget. Take care and may God Bless you and the family.

i know what you are dealing with, we had the same thing. the problem is that while you are her employer, a nanny isn't like a typical employee, they really become very close to you (when the situation works out). this person is around when the kids are taking baths, when you and your husband are getting ready to go out, they know personal things about you and you know personal things about them. at least this is the situation for the people we know (and ours). i told our nanny that while her wardrobe was really adorable, she would ruin her nice clothes getting finger paint and sticky hand prints all over them. then i took her shopping for some casual (appropriate) jeans and a couple of tops. it was worth it to me to invest in a few items of clothing, because she was a great match for our family.

I would address the high heels. She is employed by you, and certain jobs require certain types dress or safety wear. Chasing kids all day long isn't really conducive to high heels, and you are well within your rights to discuss it with her.
