Eavesdropping: Baby Monitors Go Tech as Parents Want More Info Than Ever

The First Years will introduce a new baby monitor in Fall 2013 that gives parents even more assurance than traditional video devices. The Safety Shield Digital Video ($229) allows parents to set a "safety zone" around the crib. On the monitor, a green rectangle will show the zone, and if the zone is broken (e.g., if a person or pet crosses it), an alarm will sound. The parental unit will also feature a temperature display and a remotely activated nightlight.
