Julie Andrews returned to a child-care role a year after Mary Poppins was released as the lovely Maria, a free spirit who leaves a convent to become the governess to the Von Trapp children, in Rodgers and Hammerstein's classic musical film The Sound of Music. Its beautiful scenery, amazing music, and historical plot make the film appealing to kids 6 and up. The film was nominated for 10 Oscars in 1966 and took home five, including best picture.
