While I can certainly allow for some jarring emotions at first, the shock of the birth defect, the feeling that you had no idea, but as i continued to read the article, i kept waiting for the whole, we didnt have a perfect baby! thing to subside for parental feelings of worry for their child and unconditional love, but it didnt. They continued to talk about how their healthy baby died when they got landed with a baby with a birth defect. Just wonderful. I stopped reading becuase i didnt feel like listening to them talk about how sad they were becuase he wasnt perfect. Please.

"It isn't akin to the seven stages of grief, it IS the seven stages of grief. We grieved for the hypothetical perfect baby who died when he was replaced with the baby we actually got." because he's missing a hand? come on, this is like teeny-tiny on the scale measuring a baby with issues. and mom's comment "I won't lie--I'm still sad sometimes" is one that makes me think "PLEASE, don't have any more children".
