Real Housewives of New Jersey Star's Daughter Makes Racist Remarks

Real Housewife of New Jersey's Daughter Makes Racist Remark

Given the shenanigans that occur on Bravo's Real Housewives franchise, it is no surprise that one of the series' most talked about stars is making headlines before the season even begins. In the second season premiere of The Real Housewives of New Jersey, Teresa Giudice's 9-year-old daughter says that she'd never marry a Jewish man, mocking Orthodox Jews’ long, curly hair. When asked about her daughter's remarks, Teresa explained, "I can’t control what my daughter says. Kids say dumb things . . . what, am I going to be crucified for it?" Kids will say the darndest things, but they often do so after hearing it come out of their parents' mouths. Do you take responsibility for your kids' comments?

It wouldnt surprise me that the kids heard it through the mother, the whole tone of the show is racist with everything being the result of their background. On one show theresa was trying to claim Thanksgiving was italian, apparently the whole turkey thing is ethnic? It shows how ignorant they are if they truly believe they are responsible for the worlds basic instincts.

Please.....if you have been a parent then you know very well that children hear things EVERYWHERE they go. Are we getting so thin skinned that we can't dismiss a child's comment??? Do we really have to stone said child's parent to death over it. REALLY!!! There are certainly more important things to dwell on. We can not over see absolutely everything when it comes to our children.'s not OK to make racial slurs, but they do happen everyday. It is a fact of life that is likely never to change. Quite frankly we need to get the steel back in our backbone. Now we're down to every little word uttered breaks us into a million pieces? Again PLEASE.... Hang in there Big T

Im going to agree that 9 is old enough to put things together enough to say something like this. Depending on exposure, reading level, and how observant she is, I don't think it's too out there for her age. Just a very good learning experience about tolerance, lol, and one of the many cringe worthy things she will deal with.

of course kids pick up some things from people around them, be it parents, family, friends, neighbors etc. but like the previous posters, i also dont think shes necessarily being racist. maybe its one of those things you dont say out loud lol, but not racist.

I have to kinda agree with the above poster that I don't even think it was that bad. She just said she wouldn't marry one, not that Jews are icky or something. kids do come up with their own explanation for things. If my daughter was to say something along those lines we would definitely have a talk about not judging people based on looks or religious beliefs but that it is okay to have personal preferences. It would be completely different if she went up to a jewish kid telling them they suck because of their curls. Then she'd be in serious trouble (although I really hope to raise her a person who would never do such a thing)

Kids do say stupid things, but they're usually along the lines of the "hush hush," embarrassing things that adults have been trained not to talk about. This sounds like something that she'd heard somewhere. Also, when talking about touchy, religious subjects, using the word "crucified" might not be in your best interest...

yeah, she had to have learned that somewhere!

i think kids do say some crazy things, and sometimes the parent does have to just shrug it off even if it's embarassing...BUT i'd be surprised if a 9 year old would a) make a remark about marrying a Jewish man, and b) be able to identify an Orthodox Jew's stereotypical traits IF the parents or someone else close to her hadn't said it totally seems like something she learned from an adult mocking Orthodox Jews in the's not like she just randomly said "i hate boys cuz they are stinky"...this is very specific!
