I gave my girl jarred food for a while, but when my pediatrician said, "That jarred food is garbage. Just smash whatever you're eating," I started doing it that way and loved it. The strained jars are good for the first few times you feed or if you're away from home, but if I ever have another kid I plan to DIM (do-it-myself) as much as possible.
