POPSUGAR Moms: Tell us about your background and how George & Ruby came to be.
Marissa Kraxberger: I moved to NYC in 2006 and started my career in fashion at Diane von Furstenberg. I've also worked at Armani and Kate Spade. I've been at Oscar de la Renta for the past year. We had just launched Childrenswear and were brainstorming ideas on how to generate awareness. We came up with the idea of attaching the new line to a personality — making it very authentic. I said, "I'm a mom, I can do this." I've always been kind of an open book so was happy to. We launched the blog in mid-July. Its name was inspired by our CEO's dogs, George and Ruby. I try to post five days a week, and my team helps a lot with that. Some days I'm better at the [work/life] balance than others, which I think is true of motherhood in general.
