Tell Mommy: Does Your Husband Buy Toys For Himself?

My husband is a big kid — he can't resist climbing on the playground structures with our son and daughter or hold back when he takes them to the toy store. More often than not, a trip for one small trinket becomes an all out shopping spree. He buys the toys he longed for when he was little now that he's an adult under the guise that they are for our offspring. So far, we've got a yard full of Tonka dump trucks, cases of vintage looking Hot Wheels that someone polishes with tissues and a Thomas the Train table with more ornate tracks and carriers than any two and four year old could possibly comprehend. I've called his bluff, but I'm pretty sure he'll continue to overflow their toy boxes with a bunch of stuff that they can spend time bonding over. Does your husband do this?

We are the house of toys. Bought hubby a PSP for his birthday today. My 9 year old is drooling ;-)

My dad did this with us as kids. I suspect if he had a grandson (or if his grandaughter were interested in racing cars and building tracks) he'd probably do it as a grandpa too.

Isn't that why you HAVE kids? SO you can buy toys? LOL

No, my husband probably won't do this, but I probably will! I saw this really cool alien train/car set thing at Costco yesterday that I almost bought for me (until my son is old enough). I always wanted a few things growing up and now I have an excuse to get them!

Actually I guess he does too, but his are more collector's items. He has bobbleheads from the Year Without a Santa Claus, but we've never opened them.

We both do. My husband is probably a bigger kid than I am, though. He drools over the Toys R Us catalog. I know he can't wait until our kid(s) are old enough to really play with him. He's a big kid, for sure!

No, but I do. I used to keep stuff on my desk like Pirates of the Caribbean figures, but now they're packed up since I'm not working anymore.
