Were You Thinner Before or After Baby?

If there is ever a time in a woman's life when she can eat anything her heart desires without a guilty conscience, it's generally during her nine months of pregnancy and any subsequent breastfeeding time. The fetus's demand for more calories keeps mommy noshing on cookies, smoothies and anything else enticing but when the pregnancy party is over many mamas wonder how they will shed their baby weight. Some credit a healthier diet, a stringent exercise routine, running after toddlers or breastfeeding for their slim figures while others seem to fight their pregnancy weight even years later. So tell mommy, were you trimmer before or post baby?

I was thin before and after both sons.

I was in good shape before the baby, and at a thin/healthy weight, but after the baby, something about my motivation changed because I started running more (trained for and ran my first marathon) and doing a more organized strength routine. Now I am about 5-10 pounds lighter than pre-baby, but also more muscular, so even less fat overall I guess. My stomach isn't quite the same, though....the skin seems just slightly looser, so I don't think it will ever look perfectly toned. I'm not complaining though!! I am happy with my body now, probably for the first time in my adult life.

Definitely thinner afterwards. I breastfed my daughter, and although some women don't find that they drop weight because of it, my pregnancy weight just fell off during that time. I don't work out as rigorously or as often as I did before having my girl, I mostly just do yoga when I get around to it! I think the fact that she is now 18 months, into everything, and a busy, busy little girl accounts for why I am thinner than before having a child. I'm always chasing after her!

I was definitely more fit and tone before....pretty much the same weight though. But like others mentioned my clothes just did not fit the same. Shirts felt shorter, pants tighter. I sold my whole wardrobe on ebay and bought myself some new stuff!

I was thinner after my first, but that was mostly to a 3 year stint working a job that basically had unlimited overtime. I'd work the desk job for a 16 hour day almost every day and then just collapse in bed. On the weekends, I was hard pressed to talk my husband into going out somewhere to do something, so i gained a bit of weight during that. I was stressed and unhappy with the job, so when we moved and I got pregnant I went back to my old exercise habits. I second hte changing body though, there wasn't any way of getting around that for me, the stomach area was depressing for a bit until i got it back in shape.

I was probably about the same, but was definitely much more fit and toned before baby. I was in great shape leading up to my first pregnancy. This one, not so much. I know the weight will be much harder to come off this time around!
