What Are the Best Baby Shoes?

As if they aren't cute enough, babies also get the best footwear. When it comes to covering your lil walker's toes, what type of shoes do you choose?

Soft slippered Robeez, sandal like Crocs, old school Converse, PediPeds to keep up with celebs, Pumas to run in, cub foot bottomed Pazitos, or See Kai Run for more advanced walkers.

With so many brands and styles to choose from, which pair does your lil one wear?

My daughter wore Crocs and Chuck Taylors during her first year. Right now we're doing fine with Wal-Mart and Target shoes. :)

I love buying pumas for all my mom friends.

Plus, shoes keep feet a lot warmer than socks. Can you imagine going outside in 30 degree weather with just socks on?

Schnappycat - Depends on the baby. Some babies will NOT keep socks on to save their life. Robeez (or the knockoffs) are a great help for babies like that, because they don't slip around on their feet and encourage them to try to kick them off. Plus, they just stay on better anyway. As far as Robeez vs. knockoffs goes, I've bought both and the Robeez are more washable, more durable, softer and way more expensive. So, it's a tradeoff...

pumas are adorable.

Definitely Robeez. They're soft and cute and can actually be worn by babies without doing harm to their feet and ankles.

I'm a sucker for the little Chuck Taylors, but they're hard to get on him.

Robeez! They're so much better for their little feet. They last forever too, so you can usually find them in great condition second hand.

What? No baby Vans checkerboard slip-ons?

For my walking nieces I like to buy them PediPeds. When they started walking around the house, the Robeez were good because they didn't slip and their feet kept warm but personally I think they are ugly.

Thanks, Greggie. Maybe I'll ask the Dr. after he's born and see if I should pick up a pair.

"Do I need to buy shoes for my baby-to-be while he's still an infant and not walking?" According to what I've read and consulted with on the pediatrician, no. In colder climates, shoes work better for warmth.

Do I need to buy shoes for my baby-to-be while he's still an infant and not walking? This confuses me. Or will socks do just as well for awhile and these are just meant for cuteness? I wish newborns came with a "what to wear" guide because even some of the clothes confuse me right now (like why are onesies all so cute if they are meant to be worn under clothes? Or aren't they?). Sorry, but I'm overwhelmed right now. Heh.

I think they're overpriced, underhelpful, and the tops cut off circulation. The same concept is available at Target for a small fraction of the price and fit better.

Greggie - why don't you like the Robeez?

Shoes are such a PITA right now. I've given up on them. Although it is cold here, we just put socks on her feet and that's it. I'll re-visit this whole shoe thing when she's walking.

I love the chucks, but they are SO hard to get on sometimes. when my daughter was a year she had a pair and I just about cried every time I put them on her. They are super cute, but I wouldn't recommend them until your child is old enough that they sit still while you put their shoes on!

For babies, Robeez!! They are the only ones that would stay on my daughters feet. Socks, any other shoes, etc...right off! And not wearing any shoes at all is not an option when it's cold out. For older kids, I'm coming around on the whole Crocs thing. My daughter loves hers and they don't get all stinky. lol For even older kids, I ♥ Vans. They're so durable and the pull on design is so easy for them to work with.

For nonwalkers, I don't do any shoes at all. Beyond that, I've never stuck to any name brand other than avoiding Robeez.

I love Robeez for babies because they are soft soled, stay on ALWAYS and they have so many cute designs that you want to buy them all!!! I also got Pedipeds for my son, they were good for when he just started walking, but I still prefer Robeez. :)
