Widowed Mom Gets the Surprise of a Lifetime

Widowed Mom Gets the Surprise of a Lifetime

When Sara Wood, a widowed mom from Houston, TX, attended a Houston Texans football game this past season, she thought she was just taking her son to see the team his daddy had loved. But an organization called Operation Finally Home was there at the game to surprise Sara and her son — with a brand new house!

Wood's husband, Scott, was a fallen soldier in the U.S. military, and was buried (in a Texans jersey under his dress blues) just a few weeks before the game.

Operation Finally Home, run by philanthropist Dan Wallrath, builds mortgage-free homes for families of U.S. troops wounded in Iraq and Afghanistan. To date, they have completed 17 homes and are working on another 19 properties for the families of these heroes.
