Would You Send Your Tot to an Alternative Preschool?

Would You Send Your Tot to an Alternative Preschool?

Preschool lays the foundation for your tot's future education — from studying the ABCs and 1-2-3s to learning how to write. But it is also supposed to be a place that helps lil ones explore their creativity and make the messes they can't make at home. The founders of the world-famous off-Broadway show Blue Man Group have founded a preschool and kindergarten in NYC that incorporates the founders' ability to use a variety of everyday objects to teach complex lessons. Saying that they care more about how a child learns something than what they learn, the school uses black lights, a padded room with a light-up floor and glow time, just like the shows, to encourage creative thinking. The school costs approximately $27,000 a year and the program has yet to be accredited.

Would you try an alternative program to help inspire your kids?

cool idea but how much again? hells NO. Forget numbers and letters, they better teach my kid to speak another language for that money. Since its in NYC I'm sure they'll have a few customers though!

bellasugar, your comment made me spit out my drink...i'm still laughing. and for 27 grand, they better teach letters and numbers! i found that comment really funny, given the price tag.

It isn't a terrible idea, but what an insane price for preschool! I guess if I had all the money in the world, I might consider it. I might worry that my kids would come home from school expecting to splatter paint everywhere. And while it is great for the kids to play and go nuts, they also need to learn discipline.

probably not. i don't think that much stimulation would be a great every day. but if they had a weekly thing, like gymboree, AND it was reasonably priced i would check it out.

I would love to but that price for the year is out of my price range.

Sounds cool. I hope the curriculum was designed by Dr. Tobias Fünke. ;)

i would consider it if it was in the same price range as other schools but at $27,000 it would not get a second look!
