Would You Take a Pregnancy Test From the Dollar Store?

Last week while in the checkout line at the dollar store, I noticed pregnancy tests nestled between first aid kits and hydrocortisone cream. My first thought was "OMG! A dollar!? What if those are expired?!" but hey, a test is a test right? When I returned home I Googled the brand and found out I am not the only person wondering about it. Turns out plenty of people have tried them, most of whom found them effective (well at least the people in the forums I read). Would you trust, buy or try a pregnancy test from a dollar store?

I have used in the past and they do work. I got a positive one for my youngest whom is now 8 months old. You just cannot test too early.

I tried the exact preg test that's in that picture. It says wait a few minutes, but my results showed up in less than seconds. These things work and I think they're great for the money. If you're unsure, you can buy 12 more (since that's how much one regular tests costs haha)

I used them to find out I was pregnant with my twin girls. Of course I couldn't believe so I went out and bought the digital to tell me definately I was pregnant. For $1 per test, what can you lose?

Of course! If you chart for any length of time and get the urge to POAS (pee on a stick) at 6 days post ov, you quickly begin to look for cheaper tests to save $. The best are the internet cheapies (ICs) which as literally the reactive strips with no plastic housing. They usually wind up being less than a dollar.

yes i would. with my third the pregnancy test was negative, i think, 3 times before it FINALLY tested positive. by then i was 3 months pregnant. the tests are all the same, why pay more? it isn't possible to have a false positive unless you have another medial condition that also needs attention.

i wouldn't...hopefully, though, i won't need another pregnancy test, as i'm preggo w/ #3 and done with reproduction!

i don't think i would waste the dollar, i know it is only a dollar but if you go out and buy and expensive brand after you use the cheap you have just defeated the purpose of the dollar store!!

the dollar store often gets a bad name. while some products are names you've never heard of, there are occasionally some you'll recognize and they are there because of too many being made and the company wanting to sell them instead of tossing them. i'd get a second opinion from the doctor no matter where i bought my test.

i would MAYBE try this based on all the true testimonials from people who have used them....but that's what i say NOW...if i were really worried i was pregnant i doubt the first place i'd hit up would be the local that point, saving 14$ isn't as important as getting a true result! no matter what the prognosis, you'd still want a second opinion and you'd end up heading back out to the pharmacy anyway!

I used these. I am pregnant now and it gave me my first positive. I followed it up with a more expensive brand just to be sure :)

I've used these too. Of course when I got my positive, I went out and bought some other ones too, including a digital one.
