How My Daughter Became a Rainbow Baby to Herself
This Is the Stupidest Mistake a New Parent Can Make

Is Your Child an Adventurous Eater?

Some kids eat absolutely anything from sushi to spicy lentil soup while other tykes stick to a bland diet of buttered pasta and PB&J. Most parents, however picky they may be, hope their tots will be the adventurous type.

Are your kids willing to try new foods?

My cousin is 7 and we had fajitas for Christmas and all he wanted was shredded cheese and chips. He wouldn't even eat the chicken because it wasn't a chicken nugget. He also wouldn't let his cheese and chips touch. It was quite strange.

Yes very much so....I have no problem with my daughter's eating habits whatsoever and it's been that way for most of her life. She will try tasting almost anything at least once before deciding if she likes it or not.

My daughter is still young, just a year, and is extremely adventerous. My sisters refused everything as babies, so ive been really jazzed about it. We basically give her a taste of everything we are eating, whether we think she will hate it or not. She has hardly disliked anything. She loves any type of fish from sushi to canned albacore, she loves lemons, ginger, all veggies, spicy stuff like salsa, taco sauce, etc. The only thing I can think of that she hasnt liked has been avacado. Im hoping if we continue in this vein she wont go through too bad of a refusing to try things phase

When it is somthing he has never tried before, I need to make him like it, or tell him a story like "you ll grow up faster if you it it" After this story, no way to stop him,no matter how it taste like!!!!!!!

both my boys are fairly adventurous eaters, although, they keep me guessing. one day, they'll inhale indian (as long as it's not too spicy) and then the next, won't eat it. i do try to raise kids who are not chicken nugget/fish finger/PBJ only kids. and, i operate on the "you eat what i make" program.

My littlest will pretty much eat anything you put on the tray. He has his preferences for sure but will try anything. I'm sure he will outgrow that as my oldest was the same way but now is pretty picky. Although there is no special meals made for him if he doesn't like what we are eating.

Yes and no. Sometimes she'll eat anything we put in front of her, but other times you would think we were trying to feed her dog sh*t.

Depends on the food. Our son will try different sushi, likes crystal shrimp rolls, etc. He also likes Indian food (if it's not too spicy). He's been getting a lot more adventuous as of late, which is a nice change from the diet of only peanut butter sandwiches, and I mean ONLY (thank goodness he doesn't have an allergy, I don't know WHAT we would have done). I'm starting to think it's fairly common for kids between 2.5(ish) and 4.5(ish) to kind of limit what they'll eat. They'll be adventuous as babes, then stick to basics (buttered noodles, PB, french fry's, chicken nuggets, etc.) and then suddenly it seems like they get adventurous again. Just my observation of those around me. We have a similar rule to Sarahm73 - he's required to try everything on his plate at every meal. Doesn't matter if we had the same thing last night and he didn't like it, he still has to try one bite. If he still doesn't like it, he doesn't have to eat any more than one bite. It's getting a lot better - and he'll sneak a 2nd or 3rd bite of Brussels sprouts now and again, even though he doesn't like them. ;)

My 5 year olds favourite foods are sushi ( particulariy octapus ), miso soup and seaweed salad. Her dad is a chef so we've always insisted she try new food and told her she doesn't have to eat anything she doesn't like but she won't know if she doesn't unless she tries it

my kids both USED to be good eaters. my 2 year old still is pretty good, but my 3 1/2 year old would probably go a week without a meal if i didn't make her eat. i've become very creative with dinner games to get her to eat!

my son will eat anything and everything and by that i mean everything this boy does not leave his plate empty, my daughter sticks to what she knows she will like, at the same time we dont cater to them so they eat what we make or where we go out to eat at

Other - one is, one is not. These polls never allow for those of us with more than one child. ;)
