Gas or Smiles? It Doesn't Matter Because These Newborn Photos Are Just Too Cute!

Most doctors say it's just gas, but Sandi Ford insists newborn babies can smile. She should know — she photographs them every day. The West London-based pregnancy and newborn photographer and founder of Bumps, Babes and Beyond has found a way to beautifully capture the grins and upturned corners of babies' lips as early as 10 days after they're born. She says it's all in how you coax the tot into relaxing.

"It's such an honor to capture these brand new people in their first few days of life," she told a popular photography site. "I'll never grow tired of showing new parents their beautiful new babies in a finished photograph."

But just how does she get these amazing smiles out of the tots?

"I once read that there were two types of people in this world — those that see a smiling newborn as having gas, and those that just enjoy the moment. I'm proud to be in the latter camp!" she said. Well, that and a few tricks. "Sometimes a little tickle on the lips or nose can bring out the big smile if I think one is lurking!"

Read on to see some of the gorgeous smiles she's coaxed out of some days-old babies.
