Coco Fans, This Is THE Year to Celebrate Día de los Muertos at Disney

If Disney's Halloween celebrations weren't enough to lure you for a visit, there's another huge incentive to visit Disneyland and Disney California Adventure this Fall. The parks have unveiled a two-month-long Día de los Muertos-inspired celebration that brings the magic and beauty of Coco to life. Only this year, Miguel joins the fun at the Anaheim, CA, parks! Here's what you can expect to see at each location.

At Disney California Adventure

  • At the Paradise Gardens area of the park, guests can enjoy the Plaza de la Familia festivities. Expect plenty of live entertainment with storytelling, folklórico dancers and mariachi musicians, delicious Mexican food, and new interactive experiences like colorful mask crafting.
  • At A Musical Celebration of Coco, park-goers can enjoy a show from the Storytellers of Plaza de la Familia, where they'll hear favorite songs from Coco, like the Oscar-winning best original song "Remember Me." As the lead storyteller, Mateo, recounts Miguel's magical journey into the Land of the Dead, guests can relive the story of Coco. For the first time this year, Miguel will make a guest appearance in the form of a lifelike puppet figure, joining singers, folklórico dancers, and the Grammy Award-winning Mariachi Divas for an unforgettable musical experience. This musical celebration will be performed several times daily.
  • At The World of Coco, guests can explore an art exhibit featuring the characters from Coco, allowing guests to rediscover their favorite characters and settings from the film. The exhibition features a behind-the-scenes look at the movie's creative process for bringing the Land of the Living and Land of the Dead to life. Guests can also explore a three-dimensional "ofrenda" inspired by the remembrance altar seen in Coco.
  • At Fun Activities, guests can snap photos in front of the "Árbol de la Vida," or Tree of Life. The Tree of Life at Plaza de la Familia celebrates the eternal bonds of family and friends. Guests are invited to add a remembrance note on the Memory Wall to honor their own loved ones. Guests visiting Plaza de la Familia can also design their own paper "alebrije" (spirit guide) mask.
  • If you're in the mood for Mexican food, The Mexican menu at Paradise Garden Grill features tasty options such as the traditional Día de los Muertos Pan de Muerto, Mole Verde con Pollo, a yummy Pan Dulce Conchita, and a special Coco cake.
  • In Cars Land, guests will see Ramone, one of the citizens of Cars Land, paying tribute to Día de los Muertos at Ramone's House of Body Art. Ramone's "ofrenda" display honoring Doc Hudson is a site to see.

At Disneyland

  • At Disneyland, the park will feature its traditional Día de los Muertos display at Zócalo Park in Frontierland. This breathtaking display features marigolds and papel picado, along with a traditional "ofrenda," sugar skulls known as "cavaleras," and a figure of La Catrina. To satisfy your Mexican food cravings, guests can grab a bite to eat at nearby Rancho del Zócalo Restaurante.
