It wasn't exactly a shining endorsement, though: the magazine described him as "President of the divided states of America." The runner-up, beating a shortlist of impressive world leaders and entertainers, was Hillary Clinton.
- In devastating news, a plane carrying 48 passengers crashed in the hills of Pakistan on Wednesday. Reuters reports that there are no survivors [2] and the cause of the crash in the Abbottabad region is still unknown. One of the passengers was a famous singer-turned-preacher named Junaid Jamshed.
- The wait is over. After teasing its release, the trailer for Spider-Man: Homecoming will be released [3] on Thursday during Jimmy Kimmel Live. The movie, which comes out July 2017, is the first reboot of the classic comic book hero in five years. Spider-Man: Homecoming stars 20-year-old Tom Holland [4], a British actor who was cast for the role when he was still a teen.
- On this day in history 75 years ago, Japanese planes bombed Pearl Harbor [5]. Thousands will gather today to honor the victims of the attack at the port in Hawaii. This year's commemoration is especially monumental because the current prime minister of Japan, Shinzo Abe, will visit the island later this month with President Barack Obama to pay his respects; no other Japanese leader has done so.
- Bye bye, Pebble. The fitness tracking wearable tech company is shutting down after selling its software assets to Fitbit for less than $40 million, reports Bloomberg [6]. The acquisition does not include Pebble's hardware but centers on getting Pebble's software engineers as well as its operating systems that FitBit hopes will make its products more appealing than the Apple Watch. In a blog post, Pebble CEO Eric Migicovsky [7]wrote that it will no longer sell products but existing devices will work as normal.
