Trump Just Released a Video to Try to Make You Feel Better About His Transition

Nov 21 2016 - 5:02pm

President-elect Donald Trump [1] just released a video that identifies his initial plans once he takes office and seems to address the idea that his transition to the White House is a mess [2]. "Our transition team is working very smoothly, efficiently, and effectively," Trump begins.

Though Trump denies any problems preparing for his presidency, many reports suggest otherwise. Mike Pence took over the transition, firing at least two high-profile advisers [3]; Trump's team was supposedly unaware it had to replace Obama's entire staff [4]; and one potential adviser who was maintaining an open mind about working with him, Eliot Cohen, went as far as to say "stay away" from the transition team [5] in a tweet. So it's unsurprising Trump would want to release a scripted message reassuring concerned Americans.

What's just as concerning is Trump's self-described first-100-day plan [6]. In the video message, Trump details the executive action he plans to take when he assumes office — basically, a list of what he can do without the approval from Congress. On the agenda? Withdrawing from the Trans-Pacific Partnership, stopping payments on energy taxes, investigating abuses of immigrant visa programs, and imposing a five-year ban on elected officials becoming lobbyists.

Trump closed the video by announcing that another would come, maybe to answer all the questions left by this one.
