- She's still fighting. Hillary Clinton made her first public appearance Wednesday night [1] since conceding the election at an event thrown by the Children's Defense Fund to honor her. Clinton spoke candidly about her disappointment after losing but concluded by reminding her audience that "It's up to each and every one of us to keep working to make America better and stronger and fairer."
- Is anyone surprised? NSA chief Michael S. Rogers spoke at a Wall Street Journal [2] panel and shared what many have suspected for some time: another country actively sought to influence the election. "This was a conscious effort by a nation-state to attempt to achieve a specific effect," he said about the Wikileaks emails hack. Although Rogers did not mention Russia specifically by name, US intelligence accused Russia of interfering [3] with the election back in October.
- Here's something to be thankful for: another year of Samantha Bee. TBS renewed the popular comedian's Full Frontal show for another season. It will premiere in January during a new slot on Wednesdays at 10:30 p.m. EST [4]. Since its debut in February, Bee had been ruthless about the presidential election, so there's no doubt she'll have plenty of material to cover under President Donald Trump [5].
- Speaking of Trump, his closest family adviser is not Ivanka, Eric, or Donald Jr. but Ivanka's husband, Jared Kushner. While it's unclear whether Trump sought security clearance for Kushner, his son-in-law has played a crucial role in forming his transition team [6]. Kushner was a top adviser during the campaign and is reportedly responsible for removing Chris Christie from the transition team, among other significant decisions. Trump isn't legally allowed to offer Kushner a paid office position, but his influence will likely grow once Trump takes over the White House.
- Current White House resident President Obama has named 21 people to be honored with a Medal of Freedom [7]. Some of America's most treasured actors, activists, athletes, and musicians made the list. A few highlights? Ellen DeGeneres [8], Michael Jordan [9], Tom Hanks [10], and Diana Ross, as well as Bill and Melinda Gates. They will be honored on Nov. 22 in Washington.
