- ISIS is spreading into new regions in the Middle East. The terrorist group claimed responsibility for a raid on a police academy [1] in southwest Pakistan that killed 59 people and injured 100 late Monday night. Militants entered the training center and began opening fire, with the siege lasting five hours and killing mostly cadets. While the Pakistani government has blamed the attack on another militant group, Lashkar-eJhangvi, ISIS announced it had carried out the attack via its news agency and provided the identities of the three attackers.

Hillary Clinton is nearly neck-and-neck with Donald Trump [2] in the Republican stronghold state, but some political analysts believe Clinton could beat him because of a large Latino and black turnout. Clinton must think she has a chance, too, since she's running ads in the state and has opened a campaign office there.
- Legends never die, and sometimes their houses live on forever, too. Paisley Park, home to the late musician Prince, will transform into a museum about the pop-culture icon [3]. The good news for fans is that they can start touring the Minnesota compound on Friday.
- Sometimes two brains truly are better than one. Historians have long suspected that Shakespeare had a few collaborators — namely his contemporary Christopher Marlowe — but they never confirmed it until now. Oxford University Press officially credited Marlowe with writing [4] parts of Henry VI today.
- The Affordable Care Act is making waves once again. Mid-level health plans will increase by about 25 percent next year [5], raising the cost from $242 to $302. Despite the price increase, the White House said that 75 percent of customers will still be able to sign up for plans and pay less than $100 with federal subsidies. For comparison, the rate hike between 2015 and 2016 was only 7 percent.
