J.K. Rowling's Comment on the Inauguration Proves Not Even She's Immune to Trump Dread

Jan 22 2017 - 6:45am

J.K. Rowling has been an outspoken opposer of Donald Trump since the beginning of the election. The Harry Potter author has even compared the politician to her series's villain, Voldemort, claiming he might be worse than "He-who-should-not-be-named." [1]

Almost everyone in Europe dreads the Trump presidency.

In a tweet on Jan. 20 [6], hours before President Trump is inaugurated in Washington DC, a fan tweeted at Rowling, asking her why she hasn't revealed how characters in the Harry Potter universe create a horcrux, an object that a dark witch or wizard hides part of their soul in for the purpose of trying to obtain immortality. The author tweeted back at the fan, "Because we appear to be living in an alternative reality where dreadful things you thought were impossible can happen. #Inauguration"

It isn't the first time the author has commented on the president-elect. She recently responded to the comment Trump made about not being sure if any other presidents had held their inaugural concert at the Lincoln Memorial, despite the fact that both Barack Obama and George W. Bush had.

It's either malignant narcissism, or a hitherto undiscovered form of inauguration-based and triggered amnesia. https://t.co/YhmPhi5hJ6 [10]

It seems that Trump may have replaced Voldemort as the ultimate villain for the famous author.
