Here's a depressing glimpse of what Donald Trump's presidency might look like. In a Senate confirmation hearing for Jess Sessions, Trump's pick for US attorney general, the Alabama senator was asked about the infamous leaked tape in which Trump described sexually assaulting women [1] and grabbing them by the p*ssy. Sessions had previously said he wasn't sure if the behavior Trump described [2] constituted sexual assault. "I don't characterize that as sexual assault. I think that's a stretch," he said in October, according to the Weekly Standard.
On Tuesday during the confirmation hearing, Senator Patrick Leahy, a Democrat from Vermont, asked Sessions if grabbing a woman by the genitals without consent is sexual assault and what would happen if the president was accused of such an action. Sessions said that yes, "clearly, it would be" sexual assault and that the president would be held accountable by the "appropriate law enforcement official if appropriate." See the exchange here:

As political commentator Ana Navarro pointed out, it's certainly an unprecedented and troubling moment in politics.
Hay Dios. This is surreal. An AG confirmation hearing were senators ask about "grabbing of genitals as described by the President-elect".😱
