On Saturday, Jan. 28, Canada's Prime Minister Justin Trudeau responded to President Trump's refugee ban [1] with a message of his own. "To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you," he wrote, "regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength #WelcomeToCanada." In a follow-up tweet, Trudeau shared a photo of himself with a young refugee using the hashtag #WelcomeToCanda and later assured Canadian citizens that they would not be affected by Trump's ban [2].
Other countries, including France, Germany, and Scotland [3], have also expressed their support for refugees following Trump's controversial executive order [4]. Read Justin Trudeau's welcoming message to refugees ahead.
