Watch Michelle Obama Subtly Warn Trump About Her Legacy on Jimmy Fallon

Jan 16 2017 - 10:35am

Michelle Obama [1] visited The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon [2] to discuss life during and after the White House, but her tidbit about the incoming first lady was especially revealing. Reiterating her willingness to assist Melania Trump, Obama's advice is exactly what you would expect from the first lady.

"We talked about kids, the importance of family, and creating some safe spaces to protect that family space," she told Fallon. Obama also offered her continued support to Melania, and Ivanka Trump, during their time in the White House — just as Laura Bush did for her.

Emphasizing that democracy was not about parties nor demonizing the other side, Obama added, "We're going to be supportive to the Trump administration as much as we can be. Particularly, I'm available for Melania, for Ivanka, for anyone to give that advice so that they get through this thing whole."

Obama also subtly cautioned the incoming president about scrapping her school lunch initiative, a part of Let's Move [3], which she will continue to pursue after she leaves the White House. "We've made big strides to improve the health of our kids, especially through the school lunch program," she urged, "which I hope does not get touched because that makes sense."

"I will continue to stay involved in these issues as long as I live," Obama continued, also speaking about her Reach Higher program. "Education, as you know, it's my passion."

Unlike healthcare, Trump has luckily not mentioned any plans to dismantle Let's Move.
